About Open Archive

Thousands of people have passed through its doors, leaving traces in the building. Over more than 750-year history, around 60,000 people were buried in 2,282 graves. The Oude Kerk's archival holdings capture individual lives and layered histories, reflecting both local and global histories. Open Archive makes the extensive archival material of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam accessible for research, inspiration, and deeper exploration. 

You can explore the history of the building and the surrounding neighborhood. You can also find artistic processes, exhibitions, performances, and concerts since 2013; and 252 objects in the church with their stories and contexts.
