The Holy Sepulchre Chapel is steeped in meaning and emotion. Here stood a statuary depicting the mourning of Christ’s death. Recently, it became the subject of a social debate and legal dispute over artist Giorgio Andreotta Caló’s contemporary red stained-glass window. Nuur adds an artwork here: a projection of a tear he dried on a glass slide. Human tears contain salt, which form crystals when dried. Salt is also found in stone, glass, and the sea, reminding us that we are part of a larger world’s sorrow and joy.
