The ongoing project Column Untitled, consisting of stacked white marble stones, is the physical centre of the exhibition. The stone forms represent stages in the transition between square and circle. Evoking a sensation of infinity, the column extends from the gravestone floor to the vaulted ceiling. The original installation was built using hundreds of elements to form an 8-meter pillar. For the Oude Kerk, Kruip extended the column to a height of 18 meters, the exact height of the Saint George (Joris) chapel. The rhythmic stacking and repetition emphasize not only the notion of infinity, but also references ritual - which exists by virtue of an imaginary endless repetition of actions. The elements of the column are based upon a pillar of a temple in Hampi (India).
