Marinus Boezem often uses intangible elements such as wind, air and transparency. In 2016-2017, his solo exhibition was at the Oude Kerk. For The World After, he responded to the question: Is it possible to live on earth without controlling nature?
Marinus Boezem responded to this question with a short film based on the Vitruvius Man, the world-famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci. This drawing is a symbol of Humanism, which centres on humankind. Boezem: 'The image expresses the promise of engineerability. To me, the Vitruvius Man is the logo of the Renaissance, of a new world view. As a present-day artist, I have opposed the image by allowing nature to overgrow it. After Covid-19 , we will no longer experience and use nature in the same way.’
