A camera slowly zooms in at a single pixel in a black space. As the camera draws closer, the white light is separated into a colourful spectrum. The image evokes a distant star, casting its light on our planet in transition, anticipating what is to come. Christopher Gabriel and Arnout Hulskamp, who collaborate as artist duo Children Of The Light , look to question our hyper reality and the striving for en ever higher resolution. They refer to a quote by Brian Greene, prominent mathematician and string theorist: ‘If every kid, every night, everywhere experienced an inky black sky punctuated by stars, we’d start transcending everything that divided us.’
