In June 2022, a team from the Oude Kerk, consisting of curator Marianna van der Zwaag and creative producer Chloë Sylvestre, travelled to Ghana to visit artist Ibrahim Mahama as part of a series of mutual site visits.
After arriving in the capital of Accra, the team relocated to Tamale where Mahama was born and established his work. Together, they visited his family, the Savannah Centre of Contemporary Art, and his new Red Clay Studio complex. Afterwards, Mahama and the videographers Sg Photography accompanied them on a trip along the Southern coast, taking them to a number of forts and castles. These included the Dutch Cemetery (Elmina), St George's Castle (Elmina), Cape Coast Castle (Cape Coast), Usser Fort (Accra), and Fort Prinzenstein (Keta).
