Dark wood, heavy iron fittings with anchor-shaped ends, iron rings as handles and a lock with a fleur-de-lis motif are all features of this oblong chest. In the eighteenth century this piece of furniture, with its protruding plinth and upper edge and slightly overhanging lid, served as a chest for archives.
