Taturo Atzu (JP, 1960) was born in Aichi. After studying at Musashino Art University, he went to Germany in 1987 and studied sculpture at Kunstakademie Münster. He is internationally known for his large-scale public projects. Atzu's works transform familiar public objects, such as a city monument or a street lamp, into an object placed in a private space, such as a living room or a hotel room. By transforming public structures into private spaces, he breaks down the notion of the everyday and arouses intense excitement in the viewer.
