Acting is Like Sculpture takes its title from a quote by Orson Welles, which he followed with ‘It’s what you take away from yourself that reveals the truth of what you are doing.’ Germaine Kruip , who worked in theatre before moving into visual arts, is fascinated with the process of transforming an object through a gesture. In analogy to Orson Welles’ statement ‘acting is like sculpture’, Kruip’s objects, like gestures, appear and disappear in movement.
