Acting is Like Sculpture takes its title from a quote by Orson Welles, which he followed with ‘It’s what you take away from yourself that reveals the truth of what you are doing.’ Germaine Kruip, who worked in theatre before moving into visual arts, is fascinated with the process of transforming an object through a gesture. In analogy to Orson Welles’ statement ‘acting is like sculpture’, Kruip’s objects, like gestures, appear and disappear in movement.
