The piece A Room, 24 Hours consists of a light bulb that moves slowly in the space. It takes the lamp exactly 24 hours to describe a circle. The work refers to the cosmological phenomenon of the passing of time in the natural world and heightens the visitor’s awareness. This kinetic work is located in the Collegekamer (College room). In 1571, shortly before the Alteration , a room was built by the Onze Lieve Vrouwevroedschap (women’s council of Our Lady). The Collegekamer is next to the chapel of Mary. In the exterior wall there is a commemorative plaque. The interior of the room is sober. The door to the Collegekamer stands ajar allowing a thin strip of light to fall inside into the dark church. Kruip’s work makes a subtle reference to the history of the room and in this way connects internal and external space.
