Panorama of Amsterdam


In 1554 Anthonie van den Wijngaerde drew Amsterdam from a bird’s-eye perspective and included the Oude Kerk in his drawing. The former steeple is depicted with the name of the Oude Kerk written alongside. Van den Wijngaerde did not draw an elevated crossing and there are other inaccuracies to be found in the drawing. Van den Wijngaerde was renowned for his panoramic views.
