Indonesian artist Iswanto Hartono's work Trophy in the Mirror Room was about hunting. Traditionally hunting is a way of securing the family's food supply in Indonesia. When the Dutch came, hunting became a pastime with which the colonists enjoyed themselves. The shot animal formed a proof of intrepidity, which was given a prominent place in the living room. In the Mirror Room of the Oude Kerk on a long table animals were displayed as trophies.
Hartono developed a site-specific installation for the Oude Kerk as part of Europalia Indonesia. In several works, he explored the relationship between Indonesian history and the imagery of Dutch colonialism, traces of which can also be found in the building.
