Come Closer: Come Closer: Sasanel, a LARP experience with Susan Ploetz and Nina Runa Essendrup

During this edition of Come Closer , visitors were invited to a LARP (live action role playing) about the crisis of consciousness, communication and climate. The script and game were developed by artist Susan Ploetz , who guided the description workshop together with artist Nina Runa Essendrup.

About the LARP: "In Sasanel, you play a representative of a culture whose ecosystem, home environment and way of life is being destroyed by a mysterious external force. You discover that this force is a culture that seems unable to communicate with other consciousnesses, materials and the environment as you can. Can you perhaps teach them your methods, to get in tune with the environment and available resources, before it is too late for your (and probably their) culture and homeland?"

LARP participants were led through a more than two-hour workshop at the St Sebastian Chapel (17.30-20.00) before actually playing for an hour at the Oude Kerk. From then on (20.00-21.00), other visitors were also let in, and LARPers had the choice of meeting these newcomers or continuing to play among themselves.
