This board with names and coats of arms hangs on the west wall of the Church Warden's Office, the office space where the church’s finances were managed. The names of the church wardens have been added to the board since 1681, though a few are duplicates and a number of names are missing. Elsewhere in the church, stained glass windows honoring the mayors of the city were installed. The church masters wanted to erect a similar window for themselves but the influential mayors prohibited this. As an alternative, the church masters commissioned this painting.
The board was produced by painter Jacob Colijns and sculptor Adriaen Cuyper , who also worked on the choir screen in the Oude Kerk.
