Saint Nicholas Statue
This wooden statue, dating from circa 2000, portrays Saint Nicholas with staff and mitre. The Oude Kerk was called the Church of St Nicholas until the Alteration in 1578. St Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, shipbuilders and fishermen. It is therefore little surprise that this church, formerly situated on the waterfront, was dedicated to St Nicholas.
The statue was donated to the church around 2000 by the Westerveld family.
