This lectern with stylized dolphin head and leaf motifs is located in the middle of the Oude Kerk on a baptistery screen in front of the Pulpit in kwab style . It is a design by Joost Gerritsz., who also made the yellow-copper balustrade of the pulpit in 1643. The lectern, made between 1642 and 1644, was the first example of a model later used in several churches in the Netherlands. The lectern is part of the readers bench, from which the reader announced which psalm or song would be sung.
