Jacob Pietersen was originally from a Danish family of wealthy patricians. He became the
director general of the WIC. He was stationed in the Gold Coast, which was the name for a
region on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa that was rich in gold, petroleum, sweet crude oil
and natural gas. This former region is now known as the country of Ghana. Also the West
India Company (WIC) has also managed to conquer many fortresses here.
