Queer Choir Amsterdam

Queer Choir Amsterdam is an artistic initiative that focuses on creating a 'brave space' where unique identities and voices are celebrated. Through rehearsals and performances, the choir expresses its ideas for the future and the stories it wants to share. The queer community often comes together in spaces of celebration and nightlife - places hard hit by the pandemic. This encouraged the Queer Choir Amsterdam to create its own safe space run by and for queer people. With the merging of their voices, the choir members create harmonies but also recognise the diverse nature of the human voice, with a focus on increasing control over their voices. Queer Choir Amsterdam was founded by artists Shreya de Souza, Mylou Oord and Sarah Naqvi, and is conducted by Vera Morais.
