In the new performative work A Square, spoken Germaine Kruip explores the relationship between performance and discourse. How do we experience reality? After making an appointment at the front entrance of the church the visitor takes part in a private performance. A walk, one-to-one, establishing a relationship between the architecture of the Oude Kerk and (art) history. It is said that the Oude Kerk is a pilgrimage site for devotees of the Golden Ratio. The church’s design would have followed the strict rules of symmetry. This detail is reflected in a dialogue informed by and composed of (historical) quotes on notions around ‘the square’.
