New Time for the Oude Kerk
A marathon programme for a building in transformation. Amsterdam's oldest building is transforming into a place for contemporary culture. In the run-up to its new programming, the Oude Kerk invited visitors to help shape its future. For 12 hours on a Saturday, the church became a stage for scientists, artists, architects, musicians, and cultural initiatives from across the city. How do they see the future of the Oude Kerk? And what would visitors most like to see emerge in the space of the Oude Kerk? Every hour, an artist, speaker, or initiative from the city was given the space to add culture of the present to the building. Together, this explored time and space within the church, testing the Oude Kerk as a location for contemporary art. Part of the programme included a conversation with director Jacqueline Grandjean where visitors could ask questions and share their own views. The programme included:

New Time for the Oude Kerk was curated by Michiel van Iersel, Radna Rumping, and Juha van 't Zelfde of Non-fiction. Local brewery Butcher's Tears provided a pop-up bar. Flyer and handout design was done by Experimental Jetset.
