Big Bang

Show gallery or Scroll for more

During the summer of 2014, Salon/ in collaboration with the Oude Kerk, presented an exhibition on the theme of the Big Bang. The exhibition was inspired by the belief or notion that the universe and the earth, as well as all plants and animals and humans, owe their existence to a special act of creation. This can be seen as a sudden and one-off event or as a gradual and ongoing process, or big bang. It is related to ideas formed by man and nature: the big bang, belief, faith, superstition, disbelief, madness, desire, spirituality, rituals and devotion.

SALON/ served as a 'meaningful platform': where these ideas were questioned and contested, where (ritual) actions were performed, where new stories emerged between creator and viewer, object and space, through the creations on display.

The exhibition included works by Margret Wibmer, Marc Bijl, Conny Groenewegen, MaryMe-JimmyPaul, Siba Sahabi, Navid Nuur, Joris Landman, rENs, Liselore Frowijn, Jef Montes, Germaine Kruip, Mimi Berlin, Chris Kabel, Herman Verhagen, Karin Arink, Katja Mater, Manolis Tsipos, Marleen Elenbaas, Frank Bruggeman. Elke Baggen, Klaas Kuiken, MAISON the FAUX, Martin Butler, Floris Didden, and Desiree Hammen.
